ABOUT THE FRIENDS OF KARENSMINDE

The Friends of Karensminde are at the very heart of the voluntary spirit surrounding the museum farm. For more than three decades, the association has supported the museum’s professional work in telling the story of agriculture and keeping historic breeding programmes for animals, plants, and crops alive.

Alongside this, a circle of volunteers from many different walks of life has worked tirelessly to preserve, present, and bring to life the local cultural history centred on the remarkable white manor farm of Karensminde.

Together with the museum’s staff, the volunteers ensure that Karensminde breathes with farming and rural life – that the barn and fields are not silent spaces, but places filled with scents, animal sounds, echoes of craftsmanship and agricultural history, and treasured childhood memories.

In close collaboration with the museum’s farm manager, they take care of the animals, the gardens, the old tools, and the household tasks, making it possible for visitors to truly sense the presence of history.

THEIR COMMITMENT AND SIGNIFICANCE

The association fosters community, rootedness, and authenticity. Together with the Friends and the volunteers, Museum Farm Karensminde becomes a living refuge amid fields, farm sounds, and cultural history – a place cherished by both visitors and those who give their time.

The museum deeply values every volunteer’s contribution, the time they dedicate, the generosity they show, and the care they bring to their work – and looks forward to continuing this close collaboration in the years to come.

Membership / Annual Pass
For DKK 200 you can purchase an annual pass as a member of the Friends of Karensminde.

As a member you receive:

• Free entry to the museum and free admission to most events (excluding the Historic Agricultural Fair and Vintage Show, held on the second weekend in September).

• The opportunity to attend the association’s annual general meeting and other events arranged by the Friends.

Join the Tuesday Team

Would you like to roll up your sleeves and become part of an active community where there is always time for an afternoon coffee break? Then join the Friends’ Tuesday Team: a lively group that meets every Tuesday at Museum Farm Karensminde to help with maintaining the farm and fields, preparing for upcoming events such as the harvest day, agricultural fair, or summer activities, tending and harvesting the kitchen garden, and much more – all the work that belongs to a large working farm.
