Autumn holiday 2025
During the autumn half-term, we begin our preparations for winter.
The potatoes planted in spring have grown large and healthy, and now they must be harvested before the frost arrives. It is also time to stock the pantry with smoked sausages and cured ham. One of the pigs is slaughtered, providing meat and bacon for the cold months ahead.
Here you can see when you are welcome to join us and take part in the autumn preparations. Learn, for example, how to make sausages, and discover how beer was brewed in the old days. The Friends of Karensminde will be in full swing with plenty of activities on Tuesday and Wednesday.
For the rest of the holiday, you can enjoy cosy times with outdoor cooking over the fire, beer brewing, potato printing, and harvesting potatoes in the traditional way. Come and share the peace and the beauty of autumn colours in nature with us.
